Nice guy. But gaslighted me regarding the payments… told me total cash to close was $69000. We had put an Ernest deposit of $7000 and I asked him multiple times if that was included and he said yes. Of course the day of closing I was asked to pay the $69000 and that my Ernest didn’t count. So there’s $8000 dollars I had to fork out. Also said we could close on May 1 so that we didn’t have to make the payment till July 1st. But didn’t mention that really it screws me more by paying $3000 dollars up front in just interest. I get thats the “rules” but I had no idea about that till looking at closing docs… like arnt you guys already getting enough money off me for the next 30 years…This experience was supposed to be exciting and easy for veterans and as I sit back now I feel that I got totally bent over Will not use veterans United again

Response from Veterans United

Hey Zachary,

I’m really sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling misled and frustrated—especially at the finish line of such a huge life milestone. Closing day should bring excitement and relief, not surprise costs or confusion over what’s due and why. You asked important questions along the way, and if our answers weren’t clear or ended up being incorrect, that’s on us.

I understand how frustrating it must’ve felt to find out your earnest money wasn’t applied the way you expected, or to learn about the prepaid interest cost only after seeing the final numbers. Even when those things follow industry standards, it’s still our job to walk you through them clearly—and it sounds like we dropped the ball there. That lack of transparency took away from what should’ve been a proud, exciting moment, and I hate that we let you down in that way.

If you're open to it, I’d like my client advocate team to have the chance to review your experience further and share your concerns with our/their leadership. You can reach out to us directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and we’re always here to listen.

From start to finish, Veterans United exceeded my expectations. Every step — from pre-approval to closing — was handled with care, professionalism, and clear communication. What really stood out was how seamlessly they connected me with the perfect real estate agent, making the entire journey stress-free and even exciting. I couldn’t be happier with the experience and highly recommend them to anyone looking to make their homebuying process smooth and successful.

I recently had the pleasure of working with United Veterans to secure my home loan, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The online portal was incredibly easy to navigate, making the process smooth and straightforward. The loan and home concierge team were not only professional and courteous but also warm and friendly, which made a significant difference in my experience. Their encouraging efforts truly showcased their commitment to helping veterans like myself.I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at United Veterans for their dedication and support. It’s clear that they genuinely care for those in the veteran community, and I felt valued every step of the way. I am grateful to have worked with such a wonderful company, and I look forward to sharing my positive experience with fellow veterans. Thank you for making this journey a memorable one!

I have been working with VUHL for the past 5 to 7 years and more aggressively searching these past two years. Qualifying was not our issue. As I said the process qualifying hadnt been our issue. Our issue was finding something in the criteria of VUHL, Distance of Location, Affordability, Market availability and not being bullied out of an opportunity that could be reasonable. Well unreasonably it is far from where we'd love to be but near enough we wanted to pull this trigger and pursue the closing out on our Journey. Kudos To Mark Dischert, Chris Angelo who have for the most of our journey aiding in follow ups Erin Bell, Heather Risenhoover, Ally. safe landings now we're preparing to pick up our Keys T-Shirts from Lennar at Aviano from VUHL soon. Thank you Veterans United.

Do it! If you're on the fence, get down and run, don't walk into Hannah's team. Emily & Alex are fantastic as well.

The process with Veterans United is stress free. Every time I did not understand the process, before I could call to ask my loan officer, Randy Nivens was calling me to explain what step in the process was happening and set my mind at ease. Even though I have never actually met Randy, except on the phone, I think of him as a friend. He made everything go smoothly. He never talked down to me and I felt I could ask him anything. Can’t say enough. Well done Veterans United. Well done Randy Nivens.
